New week, new free game at Epic: This time you can grab the building game Aven Colony for free and keep it forever. In it, you build an ambitious colony on an alien planet.
Aven Colony is available for free in the Epic Games Store from 4 to 11 November. If you grab the game during this period, it’s yours permanently.

What Aven Colony is all about
In the building game Aven Colony you build – as the name already reveals – a colony on an alien planet. It mixes aspects from Anno, Sim City and Banished. For example, you have to fight against the hostile environment, get farms and electricity running and provide your inhabitants with adequate entertainment. At the same time, their homes should not be too far away from the workplace, who wants to trudge across the planet’s surface for hours on end.
In addition to the campaign, there is also the classic endless mode, but in this you will have to contend with challenges such as seasons, catastrophes and alien spores.
Will it be worth the download?
Aven Colony is a solid and technically well implemented small team building game. However, you have to be prepared to be presented with a very shallow strategy game. There is little variety and hardly any end-game challenges.
Even on Steam, Aven Colony only has an average rating of “Mostly positive”. For a few relaxing hours of play, however, the free game can be well worth it.
