Borderlands: 3 years after filming ended, first images from the movie are available, but fan reactions are scathing

Fans don’t exactly have much love for the first images and cast of Eli Roth’s Borderlands film

Eli Roth is bringing Borderlands to cinemas. The sci-fi action film starring Cate Blanchett, Jaime Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart and Jack Black will be released on August 8, 2024.

Borderlands has already had a bumpy ride

Borderlands has had quite a long wait: Shooting was actually completed in June 2021, but there were numerous problems afterwards. For example, post-production was slowed down considerably by the coronavirus pandemic, while director Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) was no longer available for extensive reshoots.

As Eli Roth was busy with his horror film Thanksgiving, released in November 2023, Tim Miller (Deadpool) stepped in for him. But now Borderlands is finally heading towards its cinema release on August 8, 2024 – and the first images are now preparing for it.

The official poster and the pictures of the movie already show the cast in their Borderlands roles, a first trailer will follow today – here is a compact overview:

• Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, True Lies) as Tannis
• Kevin Hart (Ride Along, Central Intelligence) as Roland

• Florian Munteanu (Creed, Shang-Chi) as War
• Jack Black (School of Rock, Kung Fu Panda) as Claptrap

The enthusiasm is limited

The first reactions to the new material are anything but euphoric Not only the images, but also the choice of cast and director are causing a general frown. The fact that Borderlands already has an eventful production history behind it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence either.
