Companion Gale was once involved with the goddess Mystra, but one day she dumped him. Fans of the role-playing game are now standing up for the broken mage.
Many of us know what heartbreak feels like. You go from one day to the next and it feels like you have an insatiable void inside you that is about to explode. Gale from Baldur’s Gate 3 can tell you a thing or two about it. And now the community has done so to ease his pain.
Drop Mystra
On YouTube, the Space Bards released a song to free Gale from his heartache and to give his beloved Mystra the push once and for all. After all, as is well known, the goddess of magic did not exactly say goodbye gently to our wizard.
The video not only shows fan art and cosplayers from the community, but also features well-known voices. For example, the Imperator (Scott Joseph) gives his opinion:
I know that romantic love can burrow deeper into the mind than a larva. Which I usually support. But in this case, I ask you to resist.
Urge (Neil Roberts), Lae’zel (Devora Wilde) and even Gale’s voice actor Tim Downie also have a few words of encouragement for the wizard. Meanwhile, Larian himself has jumped on the Mystra hate train:

What did Mystra actually do?
If you’re wondering who kicked up all this dust in the first place, let us briefly summarize the love drama for you. Our companion Gale is not just any run-of-the-mill mage, but an extremely talented one.
The goddess of magic, Mystra, got wind of this at some point and took the young magician from Waterdeep as her chosen one. So she became Gale’s teacher, muse and finally lover. However, it is not that easy to keep a goddess like that happy, so Gale was forced to reach deep into his bag of tricks.
After his failed attempts to become a god himself, he searched for a lost tome of Nether fabric that he wanted to return to his goddess. But when he opened the book, a splinter shot into his heart – a Nether orb that now needs to be fed magic or will destroy everything around it in a gigantic explosion.
Mystra was anything but impressed by this and dropped him without further ado, leaving him alone with his dilemma. So it’s no wonder that Gale’s true friends are now standing by him.
