The community is discovering versatile uses for the improved kickstand on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been on the market since the beginning of June 2025 and offers a comprehensive evolution of the popular hybrid console. The improvements also affect the kickstand on the back, which can apparently be used in quite creative ways.
Community shows creative ways to use the kickstand
What it’s all about: With all the improvements and innovations that the Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer, the kickstand on the back of the console can easily be overlooked. As with the first Switch, it is designed to prop up the console in handheld mode and use it as a screen.
While this kickstand was just a small piece of plastic on the first Switch, Nintendo has redesigned it for the new console. The stand is now larger overall and should offer more stability.
However, the design also seems to be quite well suited for attaching the console to places that are not really suitable for it. Two posts on Reddit show this, for example.
Switch 2 on a plane:The first post is from a user named Lokeze. It shows how he wedges the Switch 2 into the tray table in front of him on a plane so that it hangs perfectly in position. It actually looks like a pretty relaxed session:

There is a lot of praise and appreciation in the comments. Although it doesn’t look entirely secure, the setup seems to have survived the flight well.
Mario Kart World in traffic: The second post comes from More_Shower_642 and is seasoned with a good dose of humor. He simply clamped the Switch 2 to the steering wheel of his car and calls it “perfect for car mode.”

The comments joke that now we know why BMW drivers never indicate and always take right of way, but of course it is not recommended to use the setup while driving.
But if you find yourself stuck in traffic for hours on your way to vacation or need to kill some time in the car, you could take a leaf out of their book.
