Assassin’s Creed Shadows is getting the last patch of the year with Title Update 1.1.7. The highlight is the new finishers, which finally allow you to send your enemies to the ground in even more varied ways.

The gaming year 2025 is almost over, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also ringing in the Christmas season with an advent calendar promotion.

But before Ubisoft also closes its doors for the holidays, the developers have released a final patch for Shadows today, December 16, which should make the game fit for the holiday season and beyond. We’re talking about the new Title Update 1.1.7, which is expected to be released at 3:00 p.m.

In addition to various minor quality-of-life improvements, the patch also includes an action-packed highlight that fans repeatedly requested. The update also concludes the fall roadmap. In January, the winter roadmap will present the first content plan for the second post-launch year. Rumor has it that a pirate event is among the things we can expect in the coming year.

Highlight of the update: Cinematic finishers

The highlight of the new update is the new finisher animations for Naoe and Yasuke, which allow you to finally put a cinematic end to your battles against annoying samurai and bandits. In the release version of Shadows, there were only two different finisher animations per weapon on average, which many players have grown tired of by now.

The new finishers now bring significantly more bloody variety to the game. Instead of just boringly slitting their throats, Naoe can now also knock her enemies’ legs out from under them and then send them to the happy hunting grounds on the ground. Yasuke also now really packs a punch with the Kanabo, among other things.

You can get a taste of the new finishers in the two tweets embedded below:

What else is in it?

In addition to the finishers, the update includes, among other things, a new Animus rift called Lost and Found. The description reads: Discover secrets, solve puzzles, roam the digital planes, and help the Guide.  This is most likely a new type of entertaining quest.

There’s also a new free Battle Pass project in the Animus, where you can unlock a new bo staff, stylish white armor for Naoe, and a special talisman, among other things. To progress in the Battle Pass, you must complete Animus anomalies, such as the aforementioned rift.

In addition, the new title update offers a number of detail improvements for the various game versions, with a particular focus on the brand new – and problematic – Switch 2 version.
You can find the details in the patch notes on the next page.
How big is the patch?
Title Update 1.1.7 has different sizes on the various platform versions of Shadows. Owners of the Xbox version have the most to download:

  • Xbox Series X/S: 16.5 GB
  • PlayStation 5: 4.5 GB
  • Nintendo Switch 2: 3.5 GB
  • PC: 13 GB
  • Steam: 6 GB
  • MAC: 9 GB

However, it should be noted that the patch will be rolled out on the Switch 2 one day later than on the other platforms.
While PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players can already enjoy the update today, the version for Nintendo’s home console will not follow until December 17, at approximately 3:00 p.m. More current information about AC Shadows can be found in the link box above.
