Arc Raiders player suddenly becomes an item fountain, but there’s probably a serious problem behind it.

There currently seems to be a glitch in Arc Raiders that allows items to be duplicated. Several players have reported defeating PvP opponents and finding piles of the same valuable item in their inventory.

Since the new Headwinds update for Arc Raiders, players have had their hands full again in Embark’s extraction shooter. Among other things, the patch brought a new matchmaking option for brave solo players, a new map condition with a focus on more verticality and treacherous birds, and significantly more cute collectible squeaky ducks to the game.

However, there has also been some frustration among players in recent days in response to the update, as the patch not only unintentionally nerfed some weapons for a short time, but the game also currently seems to be experiencing problems with a widespread duplication glitch. Apparently, players have found a way to duplicate valuable items in order to get rich in the game.

How do we know about the glitch? In recent days, players have been sharing images of the inventories of defeated PvP opponents in Arc Raiders on social media. These often show the defeated players carrying around piles of rare items such as blueprints or new squeaky ducks in their backpacks – in quantities that they could never have found within a single round in the normal way.

One player reports  on Reddit about an opponent who had 22 blueprints for the Tempest rifle and suspects that something is not right here. Another Raider was spotted with 17 of the valuable blueprints:

Evidence of a BP Duplication Glitch in matches. We have a problem.

The new colorful squeaky ducks (Familiar Ducks) also seem to be very popular with players. One player was caught with 170 of them in their inventory. Since a single duck is worth 7,000 Raider Coins on the in-game market, the loot is worth over 1.2 million coins.
Another player apparently fell victim to a fireball and, upon his demise, unleashed a veritable fountain of ducks, which visibly confused the finder:

A raider caught on fire in Buried City Metro, went down without saying a word, and left behind a mountain of Familiar Ducks. I extracted with $2.8M. Still confused.

The images are causing quite a stir on Reddit, as everything points to the killed players having used an exploit to obtain such a huge amount of loot. Exactly which exploit is still a matter of speculation, but a quick Google search reveals several supposedly effective methods.

If this turns out to be true, the in-game economy of Arc Raiders would face a problem. This is because individual players could then cheat their way to virtually infinite amounts of money thanks to such exploits. The progression of the game would also become meaningless, as money and blueprints can be used to gain significant advantages. One user writes logically on Reddit:

If this spreads, it would ruin the gaming experience for everyone. I really hope this gets patched soon, before the whole meta gets thrown into disarray with duplicated gear.

Fortunately, it seems that the developers are aware of the problem. According to Embark, they already found two ways to duplicate items in the middle of the month and patched those holes. However, people will always find a way…
