In Arc Raiders, crazy community stories happen all the time. Now, one player has been attacked, not to be robbed, but to be showered with loot gifts.

Since its release at the end of October, Arc Raiders has been a constant source of funny community stories. Although the shooter is designed for players to fight each other on the Earth’s surface in this apocalyptic extraction shooter, the gaming experience, especially in solo mode, is often characterized by cooperation between players.

Single players who happen to meet share their loot, support each other in battles with annoying Arc, or team up to raid the Queen. Of course, it doesn’t always stay so peaceful, and sometimes bullets fly—but even then, decency and humanity still seem to prevail in the Arc Raiders community, as evidenced by a video on Reddit, among other things.

In the Reddit post from December 2, player  Filthy-Moo reports on a honorable raid he committed in one of his recent rounds of Arc Raiders, and also shares the corresponding video recording.

It shows Filthy-Moo lying in wait for another player in a ruined building and shooting him down after a brief exchange of fire. But instead of finishing him off, Filthy-Moo asks the other raider if he has a microphone and then announces:

“This is a reverse robbery. I’ve got too much shit with me. I’ll help you up, I’ll give you this Vulcano, and then I’ll get the hell out of here.”

The other player can’t believe his ears: “Are you lying to me?” he asks. But it’s not a trick. Filthy-Moo throws the shotgun and a few bandages on the ground and, after reviving his opponent and wishing him a nice day, goes on his way. The robbery victim is clearly at a loss for words in this unusual situation: “What the hell,” he can be heard stammering in the video. We have embedded the clip below:

But why does  Filthy-Moo do something like that? Normally, the goal in Arc Raiders is to go home with as much loot as possible, rather than as little as possible. In the Reddit post, the honorable robber provides an explanation:

I currently have a very full inventory, a completed project, and a million in-game currency. So I’m trying to get rid of some stuff and give people positive experiences in a week that feels like the most aggressive PvP week since release. It wasn’t my original idea, but I thought it was cute. I’m going to be giving out some Christmas presents this way!

The robber is already being celebrated for his good deed in the comments. User Magicalgiant writes, “I love everything about this. Chaotic Good at its best.” And TimeToKill writes, “I bet the poor guy is still thinking about that moment today, wondering if it really happened to him.”

Either way, the story shows that Arc Raiders is currently a place where many players choose the path of cooperation and peaceful coexistence on their own initiative, rather than shooting each other down at all costs. And that’s despite the fact that the game rarely rewards them extra for doing so.
