The developers of Arc Raiders are considering turning Speranza into a walk-in hub world. But fans in the community are now fearing major changes.

Arc Raiders developer Embark Studios has confirmed that it is considering adding a walkable base as a hub world. Internally, there is great interest in creating a social space where players can immerse themselves more deeply in the world and get to know other fans. They are just waiting for the right moment.

However, a discussion has already erupted in the community about whether a walk-in base is really such a good idea. While many fans see great potential, others recall negative experiences from other games.

“A whole new place to listen to kids insulting you”

A large number of fans are critical of a walk-in hub.  A whole list of concerns about possible features has already received over 3,000 upvotes, published by Reddit user LookErenTheSea:

  • Tedious: Running from vendor to vendor to craft something, only to realize you forgot an item and have to start all over again, is just annoying. (…)
  • Toxic: An open voice chat in a hub can be annoying at best.
  • Trading: I see a lot of people saying it would be cool to be able to trade items, but that’s extremely problematic. Item dupers passing around unlimited high-tier loot, people ripping off others, and a general deterioration of the sense of exploration and discovery—especially for new players.
  • Waste of resources: Who would really want a walk-in Speranza instead of that time and those resources being put into new maps, enemies, and events?

The issue of open voice chats in particular is a cause for concern for many fans and is frequently cited. For example, Reddit user LoneWolfGiraffe writes:

A whole new place to listen to insults from children.

These concerns are justified, as they are largely based on experiences with other online games, and it is true that the necessary resources could be used elsewhere. However, there are some solutions that could be implemented by developers right from the start. For example, it would be possible to restrict voice chat. Furthermore, there is hardly any reliable information about what is actually planned.

Many fans suggest making the hub world optional. So those who want to forego immersion could fall back on the tried-and-tested menus. This is also supported by many voices critical of Speranza.

Walkable hub – bad idea pretty much all the way around

The foundation for more

Just as many players see the walk-in base as a great opportunity to interact with their friends. However, this does not mean jumping around together during bathroom breaks, but rather real activities.

Here, too, a fan has taken the trouble to compile a list of things that friends could do in the hub world of Arc Raiders in the indefinite future.& nbsp;picard_for-president writes:

  • Gambling (with crafting materials).
  • Shooting gallery where you compete with others for useful prizes such as weapon attachments.
  • A gladiatorial arena with platforms, zip lines, grandstands, and betting options.
  • A bounty board.
  • Missed Connections board like  r/ArcMissedConnections.
  • A music stage with a tip jar (rusty gears and blueprints welcome).
  • A bar.

Our newsroom manager Phil adds that he would find it pretty cool to be able to enter his own space.

Both parties agree on the suggestion, made several times, to introduce the open hub world, but to make it optional. In addition, fans from both camps would like to see the open hub world move further down Embark’s priority list and for them to continue focusing on the core elements of the extraction shooter for the time being.

So far, a walkable hub world is only being considered, but when and if it will actually happen is uncertain. And if it does, it will probably take some time. So for now, everyone can still enjoy the game as it is.
