The parallels between GTA and Ananta, a new urban open-world action game from China, are hard to ignore. Both simulate large sandbox cities full of missions, side activities, and, of course, car chases in various vehicles.
The trailer also shows confrontations with the police and various criminal syndicates in the form of shootouts or wild brawls. And even the real-time character change could have come straight from GTA.
Instead of realistic graphics, Ananta focuses on colorful anime visuals and lively characters. The developers promise a complex NPC ecosystem with detailed daily routines, a deep melee combat system, and fast movement using a grappling hook reminiscent of Spider-Man.
Unlike GTA, Ananta can be played for free: The Free2Play release is planned for PS5, PC, and mobile devices running iOS and Android, but a date has not yet been set.
