With the Acer Nitro Blaze 8 and Blaze 11, Acer is mainly increasing the size of the screen. There are other differences too.

Hardware features and comparison

In contrast to the Nitro Blaze 7, Acer has opted for a larger screen in the new handhelds.

The Acer Nitro Blaze 8 resembles other PC handhelds, such as the Asus ROG Ally X, but with an 8-inch (approx. 20 cm) screen diagonal, it offers more space for content. Valve’s Steam Deck OLED, with its 7.4-inch (approx. 19 cm) screen, is also slightly smaller.

The Nitro Blaze 11 handheld offers a full 3 inches (approx. 8 cm) more. With its 11-inch (approx. 28 cm) screen, the gaming handheld offers as much space as modern tablets. However, the largest screen only offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz instead of 144 Hz.

The larger screens also increase the weight of the handhelds.

  • Acer Nitro Blaze 7: 670 grams
  • Acer Nitro Blaze 8: 720 grams
  • Acer Nitro Blaze 11: 1050 grams

Both new gaming handhelds offer a resolution of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) and thus a higher resolution than the Blaze 7 with its full HD resolution. At 55 Wh, the built-in battery is about 5 Wh larger than in the Blaze 7.

Further differences:

  • The Acer Nitro Blaze 11 offers a 100-watt charger.
  • Instead of two USB 4 ports, the two new handhelds have one USB 4 and two USB 3.2 ports.
  • The speakers offer 2 × 2 watts instead of 2 × 1 watt on the Nitro Blaze 7.

Availability and price

According to Acer, both devices are scheduled to go on sale in North America and Europe in the second quarter.

In Europe, the non-binding price recommendation from Acer is as follows.

  • Acer Nitro Blaze 8 starting at 999 euros
  • Acer Nitro Blaze 11 starting at 1199 euros

Now we want to hear your opinion. What do you think of Acer’s new gaming handhelds? Are the new screens big enough for you or maybe already too big? Feel free to write us a comment.
