Road Kings comes from the makers of SnowRunner and outshines numerous announcements at ONL, even though it wasn’t part of it.

As every year, the Opening Night Live Show at gamescom 2025 saw the unveiling of tons of new trailers and games. But one of the highlights of the show didn’t even make it into the big Tuesday show. We’re talking about the truck driver simulation Road Kings, which was shown in the pre-show instead.

On the hot asphalt through the southern states

What kind of game is it? As an independent truck driver, you drive a 40-ton truck and have to plan routes and complete jobs to improve your company and your reputation. You’ll be confronted with different types of cargo and various weather conditions, which you’ll have to navigate with realistic driving physics through the southern states of the USA.

Natural disasters also create extreme situations such as storms, in which you can transport relief supplies and become a hero. You’ll also follow a real story in which you progress from a rookie to the CEO of your own transport company.

Even though Saber Interactive, the same people who brought you MudRunner and SnowRunner, are behind Road Kings, you will be driving exclusively on roads in Road Kings.

Further details at a glance:

  • Release: Road Kings is scheduled to be released in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
  • Multiplayer: At release, there will be asynchronous multiplayer where you can drive for your friends’ companies.
  • Crossplay: Asynchronous multiplayer will be crossplay. Future multiplayer modes may not support cross-play.
  • Design: Visually, the open world is based on the southeastern coast of the US, particularly Georgia and Florida.
  • Playtime: The main story is expected to take around ten hours to complete, after which you can accept unlimited jobs and work on your company.
  • Driver appearance: You can only see your driver’s hands and arms, but these can be customized.
  • Future plans: The open world will be expanded gradually after release.
  • Beta: You can sign up for the beta on the publisher Focus Entertainment’s website. Fans of MudRunner and SnowRunner may be a little disappointed by Road Kings, as you won’t be digging your way through rough terrain such as mud and snow. However, planning your routes carefully and keeping an eye on your fuel levels will still be the key to success.
