It appeared quietly and without fanfare, but Titan Quest 2 is already making a big splash: Early Access for the action role-playing game has been available since August 1, and it’s causing a sensation with its mythological atmosphere, fresh gameplay mechanics, and impressive graphics. Within a few days, the game surpassed 27,000 concurrent players – a strong start that should surprise even the developers.

“I’m glad I took the plunge” – an ARPG that surprises

The reviews on Steam are clear: With currently around 83 percent positive reviews, the game is already considered a “hidden gem” among connoisseurs.  Particular praise is given to the Greek-inspired world, which impresses with its finely crafted landscapes, smooth animations, and noticeably dynamic combat.
Veterans of the genre are impressed – not least by the absence of microtransactions, a feature that many players particularly appreciate today.

One reviewer sums it up: “Even in its current state, it’s significantly better than Diablo 4.” A statement that hits home – and illustrates how high hopes are for Titan Quest 2. Above all, the well-thought-out progression system and the weighty equipment selection set the game apart from the monotony of many ARPGs.

Still needs some fine-tuning – but the foundation is there

Despite the many accolades, not everything is free of criticism: Some players complain about technical teething problems such as performance issues and occasional crashes. German-speaking users in particular express their incomprehension that a game developed in Germany does not yet have a German language version. This is a detail that urgently needs to be improved in view of the planned console release.

But even critics recognize the potential: the early access model allows developers to implement specific feedback, and the foundation seems to be laid. If the promised endgame delivers what many hope for, Titan Quest 2 could establish itself as a serious alternative to the genre’s giants. Long-term support without monetization traps also gives hope for a long-lasting game model.

So far, Titan Quest 2 has only been released for PC, with consoles to follow. But one thing is already clear: this project could become bigger than many expected. And maybe even steal the show from the titan Diablo 4 in the long run.
