And the CEO is throwing in one of his underpants to drive up the price.

This could be the best news you read today. About four weeks ago, we reported that a GameStop employee ruined several Switch 2 consoles by stapling the receipt to the box.

The end result: broken displays and piles of returns.

What was a nuisance for buyers is now a big win for sick children.

GameStop is auctioning off the stapler in question on eBay, as the company recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) – along with the first “stapled” Switch 2.

This is included in the promotional package:

  • The black stapler itself
  • The first Switch 2 console that was stapled
  • The original stapled box
  • The original stapler pin, which was “carefully removed and preserved.”
  • A certificate of authenticity

As you can see from this Reddit thread , the last bid was made around 6 hours ago (as of 8 a.m.
July 10, 2025) at just under $67,000 – but that would have been exceeded long ago.

    Tacker including the CEO’s underwear

At the moment, the bid stands at eBay at $217,600, as another item has been added to the package.

GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen also announced on X that he is auctioning off one of his pairs of underwear with it.

In the end, it’s all for a good cause. All proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network children’s hospitals.

Apart from the good cause: Would it be worth bidding on the offer? After all, you would get a Switch 2 with a damaged display, but it still works perfectly in docked mode. You can always use the expensive stapler, and if you happen to be the same size as GameStop’s CEO, you’ll have an extra pair of underpants in your closet.

First and foremost, the bid is of course intended to help children in need. However, GameStop is certainly happy to take advantage of the good PR.
