Since September 16, a new game has been causing a stir: “Town to City” from Dutch studio Galaxy Grove. Instead of stress and disasters, players can expect a relaxed everyday building experience. The goal is to transform a 19th-century Mediterranean settlement into a vibrant metropolis step by step – without any time pressure or sudden disasters.

The highlight: everyone can design their city according to their own ideas. Buildings and streets can be placed freely, so no two settlements are alike. Resource management, economic growth, and the satisfaction of the population remain central building blocks, but the tone is much more relaxed than in classic games of this genre.

The game also takes a unique approach to its visuals. Instead of realism, it relies on colorful voxel graphics reminiscent of modern pixel art. The whole thing is accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack that further enhances the peaceful gaming experience.

Those looking for a slower-paced city-building experience will find a mixture of classic simulation and cozy sandbox here. It is precisely this combination that has clearly struck a chord.

“Very positive” – the Steam community is enthusiastic

Shortly after its release, “Town to City” recorded over 1,500 concurrent players, with the all-time high currently standing at more than 2,800 users. Even more impressive are the reactions: out of 335 Steam reviews, only four are negative. That’s 98 percent positive votes – a score that few games achieve.
Steam gives such figures a “Very Positive” rating, and in the comments, many users praise the relaxed atmosphere and creative freedom. This puts the title in the ranks of small indie gems that have gained a lot of attention out of nowhere.

If you’re curious, you can get started right away: “Town to City” is currently available in Early Access on Steam and will be expanded with new buildings and additional features in the coming months. Until September 23, 2025, the game is also available at a ten percent discount – for $22.49 instead of $24.99. A free demo is also available, allowing you to get a first impression without any risk.

For fans of the genre, this game could be just the right opportunity to spend hours tinkering with the perfect cityscape – without any stress.
