The new Battlefield is a fast-paced shooter, and an older gamer thinks the game is great but doesn’t want to play it himself.
“I’m too old for this stuff,” thinks Reddit user Poorly-Timed-Gimly when he sees Battlefield 6. The 50-year-old fan of the series is enthusiastic about the new installment, but believes he is now too old to really enjoy the game.
His wife responds as lovingly as she does mercilessly and has a solution for older gamers.
Shooter stress
In his post, Poorly-Timed-Gimly explains that he considers Battlefield 6 a successful return to the series’ former glory. “It feels like Battlefield,” he explains.

Despite spending thousands of hours playing older games in the series, he no longer enjoys multiplayer shooters, even though he spent over half his gaming time playing them.
For him, they now only cause anxiety and stress, which he finds strange given his former devotion to the genre.
He only managed to play ten games of BF 6.
He suspects that he is simply “old and tired.” In the comments, Hoot151, a player of a similar age, chimes in. He explains that he now lacks the reflexes to keep up.
What’s more, his group of shooter friends no longer exists: “The people I played with all those years ago lost interest,” he explains. Poorly-Timed-Gimly can relate to both points.
An old man mode
Poorly-Timed-Gimly’s wife has an interesting solution to her husband’s problem – even if it does touch a little on the sensitive issue of age.
She suggests that games could have an “old men mode.” She compares it to a more palatable version of a pasta sauce that “he likes.” It’s called “Sensitive Marinara.”
Aside from a larger discussion about the pros and cons of Rao’s marinara sauce, some gamers are enthusiastic about the idea. The user icecream_specialist For example, Shooter would play with a mode like this.
In the comments, there are many players who have also lost interest in PvP shooters as they’ve gotten older. Their tips are story-based shooters that you can play at your own pace, or co-op shooters where you don’t have to compete with others and don’t feel like you don’t stand a chance or can’t keep up.
