It’s probably an announcement that fans have either been expecting or dreading for a long time. In the last few hours, Nintendo has announced that it is working on a live-action film of the iconic The Legend of Zelda brand. Shigeru Miyamoto, the Representative Director, is co-producing this project as the creator of the series along with renowned producer Avi Arad  Arad has been involved in a good portion of Marvel film adaptations outside of the MCU since the 1990s.
Wes Ball, who previously helmed the Maze Runner trilogy, will direct this film.

In addition, Nintendo has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Sony to finance this project. While Nintendo is covering more than half of the financing costs, Sony is responsible for the release in cinemas worldwide.
(As Nintendo explains), they want to take advantage of new opportunities with the realization of The Legend of Zelda adaptation so that people worldwide can experience the world of Nintendo Entertainment. So let’s hope that the live-action implementation will be a success.
