Asus has announced a new computer monitor on X that uses new RGB OLED technology, which is said to offer several advantages over other technologies.

In a few days, the first major electronics trade show of 2026 will kick off the new year. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will take place in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9, 2026.

As usual, participating companies are already falling over themselves with announcements of new products or technologies.

This is what happened: Asus announced a new monitor on X that uses a new technology. Asus calls the technology RGB OLED and promises perfect blacks, clear text, and no color fringing.

However, Asus has yet to provide further information. There is no official information on size, resolution, refresh rate, or price.

Parallels to an announcement by LG

Asus’ description matches a new monitor panel that LG announced before a few days ago and also plans to present at the trade fair.

LG is relying on a new RGB stripe subpixel layout technology, which arranges red, green, and blue subpixels in a stripe layout. According to LG, this is intended to reduce color fringing and display text and close-ups more clearly in order to improve the display.

According to LG, previous panels were limited to 60 Hz. However, the new panel offers a refresh rate of 240 Hz and an additional mode that increases it to up to 480 Hz.

LG’s 4K monitor is said to have a size of 27 inches and a pixel density of 160 PPI. According to LG, the technology will first be used in high-end gaming and professional monitors.

It remains to be seen whether and to what extent Asus will adopt these values. Asus plans to officially unveil the monitor at the trade show. It is expected that Asus will reveal further details there and possibly also exhibit the monitor.

Now we want to hear your opinion. How satisfied are you with the display of your monitor? Would you buy it again, or do you already have your eye on another monitor? Feel free to leave us a comment.
