Thanks to Berserk, Diablo 4 is celebrating its first crossover with a franchise that does not originate from Blizzard itself.
Nowadays, it’s basically only a matter of time before every service game has a major crossover with another pop culture brand . Sometimes it’s a great fit, and sometimes it’s completely off the mark.
With Diablo 4, the time has come. Although there have already been smaller crossovers, for example with WoW, Blizzard is now teaming up with a universe that did not originate from their own pen: Berserk.
The manga and anime is a classic and actually fits very well with Diablo in terms of tone and setting. The crossover is being celebrated with a series of skins and a pet inspired by Berserk, which actually look quite stylish – the armor, the pet is a… um… nose with legs.
Fans are also getting excited, but that has less to do with the look of the skins or the nose. Blizzard has once again slapped a hefty price tag on these items. If you want to get all the limited-time Berserk content, you’ll have to fork out a whopping $150.
Just to remind you: Diablo 4 itself costs only 50 euros and the add-on 30 euros.
16,500 platinum for everything
The Berserk package consists of a total of four different skins for three classes, horse armor, and the nose pet, which is modeled after Chimimoryo, a creature popular in the Berserk community, or as fans of the manga now like to call it: Schnoz.
The skins and the pet each cost 2,800 platinum, while the horse armor is available for 2,500 platinum. As always, it’s difficult to convert this into euros. But to buy a skin for 2,800 platinum right away, you’ll need to purchase a platinum pack for 25 euros – or earn the currency over time.
It’s more worthwhile to pay 150 euros for 18,500 platinum, then you’d still have 2,000 platinum left. At least if you really want to buy all the skins. Of course, you can also just purchase one of these cosmetic items.
Many expensive skins
However, it’s not a completely new phenomenon that Blizzard charges so much money for skins. In the D4 shop, it’s now relatively normal for a whole set for one class to cost 2,800 platinum, or 25 euros.
However, the absurdity of the prices is particularly evident in this case, as such a large package with multiple skins for a popular franchise naturally attracts a lot of attention. And on top of that, the package is limited in time. Blizzard is playing on the fear of many fans that they will miss out, which could naturally tempt them to snap up all the skins immediately – even if they cost 150 euros.
