“Please sue them to hell” – New AI goes online and can immediately imitate Cyberpunk 2077 with frightening precision

Sora 2 is capable of creating videos with corresponding sound from simple prompts. What the AI does with Cyberpunk is frighteningly good.

A few days ago, OpenAI unveiled its latest AI tool. Sora 2 can generate videos from text prompts. The accompanying app is currently only available in the US and Canada, but the results are already going viral around the world.

Sora 2 is a huge leap forward, but alongside admiration for the technical achievement, there are also concerns about where the new accuracy of generative AI could lead.

Minor flaws

X user Pliny the Liberator shows a 10-second clip created with Sora 2 in a post. It shows an excerpt from the “Queen of the Highway” mission from Cyberpunk 2077, in which V and Panam clean up the Badlands with a tank.

The AI created the video using only a single sentence as a prompt: “Generate gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 with the Basilisk Tank and Panam.” Based on this line alone, Sora 2 generated an almost accurate representation of the mission.

The location on the map is correct, the voices match, and the Aldecaldos are the right gang you’re after in the mission. The only thing Sora 2 got wrong is the tank, which doesn’t have wheels in the game, but floats instead.

Another flaw concerns Panam: she is actually sitting in the tank with V, but in the clip she is standing upright in the turret, as if she had been ordered and not picked up.

“Please sue her”

However, X user Constantin sees a major legal problem in the clip and links developer CD Projekt Red directly in his post about the clip with the words:

Can @CDPROJEKTRED please sue them to hell to set a precedent? Thank you.

It is currently unknown whether the Polish studio plans to take legal action. Other entertainment media producers have already taken AI-generated content to court.

In the middle of the year, for example, Disney sued the AI company Midjourney because its app created images of characters such as Iron Man, Elsa (Frozen), Shrek, and Buzz Lightyear.

The question of intellectual property in the age of artificial intelligence will continue to occupy us. Sora 2 is far from perfect, and at least those familiar with Cyberpunk 2077 can quickly and easily identify the clip as fake. The question is: Will that still be possible with Sora 3?
