With the release of Season 3, a lot has changed in Warzone due to the weapon nerfs that have been brought along. We tell you what to look out for.

With the sniper nerf in Season 3, developer Raven Software has broken the meta for sniper rifles for now. We tell you what it’s all about and what it means for your loadouts.

Sniper-Nerf

With Season 3, the developers of Warzone have made good on their promise and adjusted all sniper rifles. Previously, players could take out enemies with a single headshot from a sniper rifle, regardless of their distance from the target. This led to almost every loadout being equipped with such a rifle. In addition, an MP or assault rifle was usually packed in for close combat.

Especially popular weapons like the Kar98 or the Swiss could not be missing in any loadout, until now. As announced, Raven Software has generated various sniper rifles and made them almost unusable. Only a handful of weapons are now capable of taking out enemies at any distance with a single headshot. Many of the firefights in Warzone take place at distances between 20m and 60m. Many of the nerfs therefore have a direct impact on gameplay.

The end for Kar98 & Co.?

Of course, Warzone guru JGOD took care of the matter directly and evaluated the affected weapons on the basis of the patch notes. It is noticeable that only very specific weapons are now lethal after one shot at unlimited range. The majority of rifles now require two or even three headshots to send enemies into nirvana.

Community favourites such as the Kar98 or the Swiss, long considered the ultimate for longer ranges, now require two head shots from a distance of 45m and 50m respectively. The heavy sniper rifles such as the AX-50 and HDR, which have almost fallen into oblivion, can perhaps hope for a second spring. The Pelington, however, could be an exception. With a one-shot kill range of about 70 m, it could still be good enough to find a place in an effective loadout.

No one-hit kill regardless of distance:

  • Rytec
  • Dragunov
  • M82

One-hit kill with range restriction:

  • Kar 98k (MW) ~ 50 m
  • SP-R 208 ~ 45 m
  • Pelington ~ 70 m
  • Tundra ~ 45 m
  • Swiss ~ 45 m
  • Type 99 ~ 50 m
  • Kar 98k (VG) ~ 45 m

One-hit kill with no range restriction:

  • HDR
  • AX-50
  • ZRG 20mm
  • Three-line rifle
  • Gorenko

The classic sniper meta Kar98 + AR/MP is likely to change in the near future. It is quite likely that Kar98 & Co. will be banned from most loadouts to make room for HDR, AX-50 or Gorenko. So if you want to remain lethal at longer distances, you should adapt your equipment quickly.
