A shooter giant under pressure – and its response

For a long time, Call of Duty was considered the undisputed leader in the multiplayer segment. But with Battlefield 6, a serious competitor is emerging. Activision and the development studios Treyarch and Raven Software have now responded – and unveiled the multiplayer mode of
Black Ops 7
in an elaborately produced trailer. The message is clear: anyone who thinks the series has become tired will be proven wrong. At first glance, it’s clear how much the creators are focusing on diversity.
Players can expect snow-covered mountain huts, gloomy military installations, neon-lit urban canyons, and sterile laboratories. A total of 18 maps will be available at launch, six of which were already included in the beta in October. These include three fan favorites from  Black Ops 2, which have been revamped and are making a comeback.
The developers have also been generous with the weapon arsenal. More than 30 firearms will be available from the start, ranging from futuristic assault rifles to classics with a new look. Over 20 scorestreaks provide additional excitement, with a robot dog and an armed combat robot particularly catching the eye.

“Movement changes everything” – a risky move

However, the most discussed innovation is one that could fundamentally change the feel of the game: the new movement system. It builds on last year’s Omnimovement, but now introduces wall jumps. Players can push off walls, string together jumps, and develop completely new tactics. Three wall jumps in a row are possible – with decreasing momentum. This opens up new ways to outsmart opponents or reach cover.
