Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 lets players keep weapons and XP from the previous game – but also the controversial crossover skins.
We have some good news and some bad news about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – at least for some of you. The good news is that the Carry Forward program lets you transfer weapons, XP, skins, and other cosmetics from previous games to the new game.
The bad news: The carry-over program lets you transfer skins and other cosmetics from previous games to the new game. This also includes the widely despised crossover skins. So you won’t be getting rid of Beavis & Butthead and the Ninja Turtles anytime soon.
Black Ops 7 remains wild
At a preview event (via gamespot), Senior Director of Communications Stephanie Snowden confirmed the carry-forward initiative – also available at Activision blog. This means you can keep your stuff from previous titles in the series, which is great news. Any money you’ve already spent on cosmetics and operators, or content you’ve worked hard to earn, won’t be lost.

XP tokens and GobbleGums will be available from launch. Weapons, operators, and skins will be added in the first season, with a few exceptions. However, it’s certain that operator skins that many fans felt detracted from the atmosphere in previous games will be returning.
All previously released silly skins will be available at once, instead of being released gradually as in the past. So you can already mentally prepare yourself for a wave of characters from American Dad, horse skins, and the doll from Squid Game.
During the press event, Snowden only briefly commented on this elephant in the room:
When it comes to cosmetics, we have a very broad community with many different interests and preferences for all game modes. We pay attention to that, but we also have to do right by our players.
Only time will tell how exactly this should be interpreted. In any case, leaks have confirmed that Black Ops 7 is moving even further away from the dark military setting!
The fact that former CoD fans are bitterly disappointed can be seen these days in numerous posts and announcements about the Battlefield competitor. The gameplay reveal trailer , the situation is no different. Here, viewers ironically express their gratitude for pre-ordering Battlefield 6 because of Black Ops 7.
What do you think? Are you more into the grounded and serious Battlefield 6, or does the colorful sci-fi setting of Black Ops 7 not bother you at all? Have you even already splurged on the eye-catching skins? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
