“A difference like night and day” – A hated feature was considered an irrefutable law of nature in CoD for years, and its temporary deactivation has had an immediate and enormous impact.

The beta version of CoD: Black Ops 7 is causing a stir with its anti-SBMM playlist. The feedback from players so far has been overwhelming.

Hardly any other feature in multiplayer shooters is discussed more than skill-based matchmaking. In theory, SBMM is supposed to ensure that players encounter opponents who are at a similar skill level, thus creating exciting matches.

In practice, however, SBMM often angers players because they are “punished” with tougher opponents for every victory and every round is tense – even outside of ranked mode.

CoD fans have been complaining about the harsh SBMM cuts, especially since the release of Modern Warfare almost 6 years ago. Activision has skillfully ignored the players’ complaints – until now.

Black Ops 7 with a No-SBMM playlist?

The current beta for CoD: Black Ops 7 includes a playlist that gives cause for hope: according to the developers, the mode called Open Moshpit drastically reduces the SBMM constraints during matchmaking.

Players of almost every skill level meet randomly here, which means that every round plays out very differently – sometimes you dominate, sometimes you fall far behind. The feedback from beta testers is clear.

The community’s first impressions

The internet is full of praise for Open Moshpit. NerosCinema writes on X that it feels fantastic.& nbsp;I feel like I’m really playing Call of Duty again.

FaZe Scope is also enthusiastic and highlights another advantage:

The No-SBMM playlist is incredibly good, I can hardly believe it. I get into the lobby five times faster and the diversity of players is quite noticeable. People are just in a good mood.“

There are also some cheerful fans on Reddit, including Ajchandler:

It’s much better. A difference like night and day.

SoaR Zelta warns, however, that the euphoria should not get out of hand:

Remember: People have been complaining about this constantly since SBMM was introduced six years ago. Activision didn’t suddenly decide to listen to us, but is doing so out of sheer fear of the competition that Battlefield 6 has brought.

It is also not yet clear whether the Open Moshpit playlist will ultimately be included in the finished game. Of course, the current positive response helps, but the vocal complaints from players over the years have apparently only now borne fruit.
