“It completely changes how I play” – A shooter mechanic in Battlefield 6 turns out to be much more powerful than many people think.

The suppression mechanic doesn’t directly reduce your opponents’ health points, but it’s still extremely useful.

In Battlefield 6, a wide range of weapons, class equipment, and vehicles provide plenty of variety. You can snipe your opponents from a distance, blow them up with mines, or shoot them in open combat.

However, it’s not always necessary to land direct hits. As YouTuber TheXclusiveAce has noted, you can also take advantage of the revised suppression mechanics.

No healing here!

Suppression works differently in Battlefield 6 than in previous games. Whereas it used to reduce your opponents’ accuracy, in the current installment of the series, it prevents passive health regeneration.

To achieve this effect, your shots must narrowly miss their target – it sounds suboptimal, but when used correctly, it’s quite profitable. In his video, TheXclusiveAce explains exactly how the mechanic works:

Without suppression, health regeneration begins 5 seconds after taking damage at a rate of 10 HP per second. However, under the influence of suppression, the start of regeneration is repeatedly reset to the beginning—with no time limit.

This means that if your opponent is under constant fire, they cannot regenerate their health. So if they hide behind cover and your bullets fly close enough around them, they will retain the damage you have inflicted on them up to that point.

The only exceptions are the Support class’s Supply Crate and Supply Bag. These trigger health regeneration immediately and cannot be suppressed.

Another reason why this mechanic is more powerful than you might initially think is the radius in which you trigger suppression. At around 5 meters, it is very generous and allows you to put pressure on your opponents even behind relatively large cover.

While you are explicitly supposed to use LMGs to “suppress” enemies for a specific class assignment, it doesn’t matter which weapon you use for the general mechanic. As long as you keep firing bullets in the vicinity of your opponents, their health bars will remain where they are.

The suppression mechanic can therefore be a decisive advantage in attack. It also makes the role of the support class even more important, as it is the only one that can provide a real counter in the form of supply crates.
