It’s no longer a secret:Battlefield 6 is set to be a turning point for EA. A prestige project in which apparently no expense is being spared. According to internal reports, the development is devouring astronomical sums – far more than previous offshoots. At the same time, the rumor mill is churning: a free-to-play model, a large single-player campaign and a fresh focus on Battle Royale?

Now something tangible is emerging for the first time: a leaked clip, just six seconds long, could offer the first glimpse of the battle royale mode in the new game. And it shows more than it initially seems.

Battlefield 6 leak: Battle Royale with ring system in California

The now removed clip shows helicopters under dark clouds transporting a squad of soldiers over a rugged  terrain. Explosions flare up in the distance and lighting effects are reminiscent of the typical “Battlefield moments”. According to the well-known Leaker temporal the scenario is set in California – in a post-apocalyptic setting, criss-crossed by ruins and forest.

Exciting: The mode uses a ring system, similar to Fortnite or Warzone, in which the playing field gradually shrinks. The focus is likely to be on intense helicopter drops, fast mobility and destructible environments.

The clip only circulated briefly on Twitter before being removed at EA’s request – a sign that it is apparently genuine. A planned PR maneuver or an unplanned leak? That remains unclear.

Battlefield 6 is still scheduled for release in 2025. Whether the Battle Royale mode will really be free, as is currently rumored, is just as unconfirmed as the authenticity of the video. However, there are many indications that EA is now putting all its eggs in one basket after the difficult Battlefield 2042
