After a rather disappointing first season, Battlefield 6 fans are eagerly awaiting new content, but it’s taking longer than expected.
Three months after its release, Battlefield 6 is still far from where fans and developers want it to be. Various problems have not yet been satisfactorily resolved, and many players identify the maps as the biggest shortcoming. Long-time fans complain about the small selection of really large maps and weaknesses in map design, such as the new Blackwell map or certain modes such as Breakthrough.
The hunger for new content has therefore become unbearable for many fans in recent weeks. But now there is another setback: Season 2 will not be released in January 2026 as expected, but on February 17 instead.
There’s not enough time
Season 1 will be extended and will feature a bonus path for the Battle Pass and new challenges starting January 20. However, it’s doubtful whether this is really adequate consolation. Many players feel that the Battle Pass levels are already unlocked too slowly.
And the rewards are also rather disappointing.
At least the new bonus path can be played through parallel to the normal Battle Pass, so you don’t have to complete all the other paths first.
More interesting, however, is the reason for the postponement of Season 2. In the press release, EA states that they simply need more time:
The schedule adjustment is intended to allow additional development time to improve Season 2 based on community feedback.
So it’s probably a matter of introducing further bug fixes and improvements in Season 2 that wouldn’t otherwise have made it into the update. It’s also possible, of course, that the new content for the season, such as weapons, maps, or vehicles, still needs some fine-tuning.
Given the declining player numbers, the postponement of Season 2 is obviously not particularly good news for Battlefield 6. Whether an extra month can actually make a significant difference and bring about significant improvements is questionable. In any case, the release of the second season is very important for the shooter, and the developers seem to be aware of this.
