Battlefield 6 Beta: Launch, registration, content – all the info on the open beta

The Battlefield 6 beta is just around the corner! Here you’ll find all the info on the launch, registration, Twitch Drops for early access, maps, modes, and preload.

The community is eagerly awaiting the release – and how could it be otherwise? With Battlefield 6, Electronic Arts is inviting players to the biggest beta yet and promising that this time, everything will be better – and our shooter expert Phil is optimistic after playing the game.

Dates & schedule: When does the Battlefield 6 beta start?

Let’s get right to it: The open beta will run in several phases so that as many of you as possible can try it out – no pre-order or exclusive codes required:

• Early Access: August 7–8 (exclusive to Battlefield Labs members and Twitch drop winners)
• First beta weekend: August 9–10 (for everyone)
• Second beta weekend: August 14–17 (for everyone)

You can preload the game starting August 4, and the beta phases will begin at 10:00 a.m. each day.

If you want to take advantage of early access, you must have already participated in the Battlefield Labs test phase, qualified via Twitch Drop, or purchased an EA Pro subscription.

Preload: How to download the game now

If you want to get started as soon as possible on August 7 or 9, 2025, you can download the beta version of Battlefield 6 now. Depending on your platform, the download size ranges between 30 and 40 gigabytes:

• Steam: 35.7 GB
• EA App: 39.3 GB
• PS5: 33.91 GB
• Xbox Series X: 37.56 GB

To download the game, simply go to your store of choice and search for Battlefield 6. You can then download the game from the product page:

• Steam: Search for Battlefield 6. On the product page, you will see a box with the heading “Join the Battlefield 6 Open Beta.” Simply click on “Request Access” and you will then be given the option to download the game.
• EA App: Search for Battlefield 6 and click on Battlefield 6 Open Beta in the results. Then click on Install on the product page to start the download.
• Epic Games: Search for Battlefield 6 in the store and select the beta. Click on “Get Demo” on the product page, complete the order, and install the game from your library.
• Playstation and Xbox: To unlock the game for consoles, you’ll need to take a detour via the Battlefield website. Once you’ve followed the link, you can select your preferred platform, you’ll be redirected to the store, and you can then add the game to your library. Then simply start your console, search for Battlefield 6 in your library, and install it.

Early access via Twitch Drops: How to get early access

The exclusive early access phase of the Battlefield 6 Open Beta will run on August 7 and 8. This time, access is not available for pre-order customers, but via Twitch Drops.

Step-by-step guide: How to get your Twitch Drop

1. Twitch account: If you haven’t already, create a free account on Twitch. Only registered users can receive Twitch Drops.
2. Link your EA and Twitch accounts: Link your EA account to your Twitch account. You can do this directly through EA and this link, not in your Twitch settings.
3. Find Battlefield 6 streams with “Drops Enabled”: On August 7 and 8, numerous creators will be streaming the beta. Look for notes such as “Drops Enabled” in the stream title. These streams will qualify you for the beta drop.
4. Watch for at least 30 minutes: To receive the drop, you must watch a qualifying stream for at least one hour. You can also mute the stream and just let it run in the background.
5. Redeem drop & secure code: After the time has elapsed, a message will appear on Twitch: You have received a drop! The code will be displayed directly in your notifications.
6. Redeem code in EA Launcher/Store: Enter the code you received on the Battlefield website, and you’re ready to go on August 7!

Platforms & Participation: Where can you play?

The beta is available on:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X/S
• PC (EA App)

Last-gen consoles will apparently no longer be supported, as EA is clearly focusing on next-gen hardware and PC. The minimum PC requirements are also already known. Recommended:

• Graphics card: RTX 3060Ti or RX 6700 XT, 8GB memory
• CPU: i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X
• RAM: 16 GB
• Storage space: 75 GB

Beta content: Maps, modes, and features

Four maps are included, including “Siege of Cairo,” “Liberation Peak,” “Iberian Offensive,” and “Empire State.” Particularly exciting is the new “Tactical Destruction” system, which works like real structural analysis and is set to unleash unprecedented destruction physics. Not only can you dismantle buildings in visually impressive ways, but you can also gain tactical advantages from doing so.

You can look forward to the following modes:

• Conquest
• Breakthrough
• Squad Deathmatch
• Domination

The class system is making a comeback (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon), the variety of vehicles and weapons is being expanded, and even the controversial (and popular) portal feature is returning.

In addition, the gunplay, movement, and the new “Kinesthetic Combat System” have been refined—for example, recoil information is now conveyed directly through the weapon so you can learn how to fire more accurately.

Rewards: What do you get for playing?

Those who play during the two beta weekends can earn exclusive in-game rewards. The exact unlock conditions are not yet known, but it may be enough to start the beta just once.

Battlefield 6 will be a test for EA and DICE: The developers are therefore promising a return to the series’ roots: class-based action, spectacular destruction, huge maps, and lots of fan service.
