To celebrate the game’s second anniversary, Offworld and Knights Peak are expanding the shooter with airstrikes during base defense and a cosmetic Supporter Pack.
Starship Troopers: Extermination celebrates its second anniversary with the new Update 13, which introduces a fresh yet familiar foe.
With this update, developer Offworld and publisher Knights Peak are introducing the flying Hopper bug into the game—a creature you’ll recognize from the 1997 movie.
Danger from the air: Flying Hopper Bugs shake up base defense
“They hunt isolated troopers with sudden dive attacks, snatch their victims, and carry them off,” it says. “Their speed and ability to reach unprotected positions make it clear that elevated locations offer little protection when the enemy can fly.”
This also increases the vertical combat pressure in base defense scenarios, as they attack from above in tight formations. They prefer to target isolated troopers on elevated terrain and carry them off.
So you’ll need to keep an eye on the sky—shooting them down could save your comrades. But be careful: Their falling bodies inflict heavy damage on any trooper caught beneath them.
