Rockstar has released a new trailer for GTA 6, offering further glimpses into the most anticipated video game of the year.

We all just had to collectively check the calendar here in the newsroom. It’s still October, right? So why is Rockstar already coming out with a launch trailer for GTA 6? Normally, you wouldn’t expect trailers like this until a few days around the release date. That’s why they’re called “launch trailers.”

Well, ultimately, that won’t matter much to fans who are already chasing down every tiny scrap of info about Rockstar’s mega-blockbuster. Of course, the trailer does contain some information as well—though no new gameplay details or anything like that. Instead, we get plenty of glimpses into what happens throughout the story of GTA 6.

We’ll summarize the details here. But you can also watch the trailer directly:

The Most Exciting Highlights of the New Trailer

  • Intimacy Between Jason and Lucia: The trailer very clearly focuses on the relationship between the two playable protagonists. We already know that our decisions will determine how romantic things get between them. In the trailer, the romance is clearly in full swing, as they’re practically glued to each other. And yes, there are early signs of nudity and flirting. In this case, in the shower.

  • Lucia’s ankle monitor: While the two are cuddling in the shower, Lucia’s ankle monitor is also prominently visible. As a reminder: Lucia is released from prison at the beginning of the GTA 6 story. But apparently, she’s not off the hook just yet. At first, Lucia will have to live with the ankle monitor. However, we already know that the ankle monitor has more of a narrative impact and probably won’t really restrict you in the gameplay itself.

  • Jason’s Past: Jason, too, seems to be struggling with his past. In his case, this mainly has to do with the fact that he used to be in the military. According to Jason, he apparently got into—or caused—“trouble” during his time as a soldier and was discharged dishonorably. In one scene, we also see Jason wading through a swamp in military gear—so we might be playing through part of his backstory.

  • Open-World Chaos: As the story unfolds, things are likely to get pretty intense again. In addition to the usual robberies and shootouts, the trailer shows a few major action sequences. In one of them, a helicopter tears down half a building’s facade.

  • Important NPCs: The trailer also seems to give some screen time to a few fairly significant characters. Of course, we don’t yet know for sure which of them will actually play a major role, but a few certainly give that impression. The mustachioed police officer at 1:04, for example, definitely looks like an adversary who could cause trouble. At 0:57, there’s a very muscular man—someone we’d also rather not mess with. In comparison, the “snake” guy at 0:58 seems more relaxed—but also a little out of it. But then again, who isn’t in GTA?

By the way: In case you’re wondering what that groovy song playing in the background is. It’s a new single by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard called “Flower in a Hurricane.” The song should probably be featured in the game as well.

What else did you notice in the trailer? Are you excited for GTA 6, or are you taking it easy for now? Let us know in the comments. And if you’d rather read than write, you’ll find plenty of articles about GTA 6 in the link box above. We’ll, of course, continue to cover this major video game event and provide you with extensive information both before and after the release.
