Starting today, you can once again grab two games for free—forever—on the Epic Games Store. This time, there’s a gorgeous city-building hidden gem and an unusual horror adventure that’s been a huge hit on Steam.
If you enjoy building medieval kingdoms or prefer to get spooked in gloomy mansions, you should check out the Epic Games Store today. Starting October 8 at 5 p.m., Epic is giving away two games that boast outstanding reviews on Steam.
With TerraScape and Out of Sight, two quite different indie titles await you. You can claim both for free until October 15 at 5 p.m. and keep them permanently afterward.
TerraScape: Stress-Free Medieval City Building
Genre: City-building strategy –Release: July 17, 2024 –Steam Reviews: Very Positive
If medieval city-building immediately makes you think of Manor Lords or Anno 1800, you’ll have to rethink things a bit with TerraScape. This game isn’t just about mining resources as efficiently as possible, collecting taxes, or building a functioning economy.
Instead, the German development studio Bitfall Studios combines city-building with a clever puzzle game. You gradually build your own kingdom on floating islands. Buildings are placed using cards and yield varying numbers of points, depending on what’s in their surroundings.
A mill, for example, benefits from compatible neighboring buildings, while other structures prefer specific landscapes. With particularly clever combinations, you can even create larger building complexes that provide additional bonuses.
The whole thing quickly becomes quite a brain teaser. And if you just want to build pretty medieval towns, you can do so without restrictions in Creative Mode. In addition to various challenges, there’s also a co-op mode for up to four players as well as a competitive multiplayer mode.
The concept has been extremely well-received on Steam: 93 percent of German-speaking user reviews are positive.
Out of Sight: A Teddy Bear Is Your Only Hope
In Out of Sight, you take on the role of little Sophie, who is blind and is being held captive in a spooky mansion. Luckily, Sophie has a very special teddy bear: through its eyes, she can see her surroundings.
And that’s exactly what this horror adventure uses as its central gameplay mechanic. When you place your teddy bear in the right spot, you can watch from its perspective as Sophie moves through the environment.
You’ll have to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and hide from the house’s inhabitants, who clearly have no good intentions toward you. Even creaking floorboards or a single careless step can spell disaster.
Instead of bloody battles, Out of Sight relies primarily on a claustrophobic atmosphere, stealth sequences, and its unusual camera perspective.
This has been very well received by players: On Steam, 94 percent of buyers currently recommend this horror adventure. On Metacritic, it has a solid score in the 80s.
You can grab both games for free on the Epic Games Store starting now through October 15 at 5 p.m. All you need is a free Epic account, and you can add the games to your account by clicking the button.
