On August 20, 2026, Stalker 2 will receive the massive 2.0 update, which includes new weapons, graphical improvements, a more vibrant world, and much more. We’ll share all the details with you.
The massive 2.0 update for Stalker 2 is coming in just a few days. And it goes far beyond bug fixes or other minor tweaks: Stalker 2 will run on a new version of the Unreal Engine, bringing significant graphical improvements. There are also new weapons, improved AI, binoculars, and so much more… We’ve listed all the changes that have now been revealed for you.
What’s New in Stalker 2.0?
First things first: Update 2.0 will be released on August 20, 2026, for all platforms. The trailer gives you an overview of the new features; below, we’ve listed all the known details.
- Graphics:Thanks to the engine upgrade, there’s improved lighting, such as more realistic shadows and reflections. The trailer also shows denser grass and improved landscape rendering.
- A-Life:NPC behavior has also been improved. Stalkers and mutants encounter each other more frequently. There are also various fixes, such as for enemies that spawn in large numbers or shoot through walls.
- Difficulty:New difficulty settings have been added, allowing us to fine-tune the gameplay experience. For particularly dedicated fans, there’s the new Master difficulty level and Expedition Mode.
- Binoculars:Three different models can be found in the Zone and at merchants, each with different features and technologies.
- Weapons:There are four new weapons (and one unique variant), as well as several sights:
- The Arev assault rifle
- The GP3A and SKP sniper rifles
- The submachine gun Fora-230
- Fog:A new weather condition that also serves as a gameplay mechanic. Enemies have reduced vision and hearing.
- Statistics:Our performance is now documented in the PDA.
Along with Update 2.0, the first story DLC for Stalker 2, *Cost of Hope*, is also being released. In it, we explore new areas like the Iron Forest and get caught up in a conflict between the classic Stalker factions, the Guardians and Freedom.
