Not only is Conan the Barbarian getting a new movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but a new series has now also been confirmed for Prime Video.
Back in March 2026we reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger would star in a sequel to the fantasy classicConan the Barbarian. In May, the actor confirmed in an interview with TheArnoldFans that production was a done deal and the film was definitely happening. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2027.
As reported now by, among others,via X, Conan the Barbarian is making a double comeback. In addition to the new movie, Amazon is now working on a new animated series,and there’s even a picture of it already.

The series is originally titled *Conan the Barbarian: Queen of the Black Coast* and was created by Genndy Tartakovsky, who has already gained experience with brutal animated series such as *Samurai Jack* and *Primal*. Some initial details about the plot have already been revealed, though they are few:
After the battle-hardened Conan finds his true love in the pirate queen Bêlit, he defies the gods, fate, and even death to save her from a dark spell that threatens to destroy everything.
As Comic Book Movie reports, according to Tartakovsky, we won’t see the first animations until 2028. A release of the series is thereforenot realistic before 2029.
Things might move a bit faster with the Schwarzenegger movie. If filming begins in 2027, atheatrical release in 2028 is likely. Conan the Barbarian isn’t the only classic franchise Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to.He’s also set to continue his roles in *Predator* and *Phantom Kommando*.
