Open Beta: Originally, the developers of Outward 2 had planned only a closed beta. However, at the Microsoft Showcase during Summer Game Fest 2026, Nine Dots Studio announced that the event would be converted into an open beta. You can participate right now simply by visitingstore page on Steam.

When is the game coming out? There isn’t a fixed release date for Outward 2 yet, but the survival RPG will launch in Early Access on July 7, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

What kind of game is this?Outward 2 is an action RPG with survival elements. You’ll be dropped into the dreamlike landscape of Aurai, but don’t expect a walk in the park.

The beautiful landscape is full of deadly creatures out to get you, and no one is there to hold your hand. And in this game, you’re not an all-powerful wizard or a super-strong warrior. You’re just an ordinary person in a supernatural world.

But as is typical for survival games, it’s not just the combat that can be dangerous. Hunger, thirst, the weather, and even exhaustion all have their own challenges and require strategic planning.
