Do you know the Graymane named Yann? If so, chances are you can’t stand him.
InCrimson Desertyou belong to the so-called Graybeards, a group of warriors torn apart by the war in Pailune. All their followers are now scattered across the world of Pywel, and it’s up to you to reunite the Graybeards.
However, not all of your 65 comrades are reliable fighters.One in particular is considered the black sheep of the group,and the community would love nothing more than to let him know it.
Problem Child Yann
We’re talking about Yann of the Greymane. What you can expect from him becomes clear right from the first sentence of his description:“The problem child of the Greymane.”
Yann is addicted to alcohol and therefore constantly causes trouble. In-game, your interactions with him mainly take the form of quests where you constantly have to bail him out of trouble.
Didn’t pay his tab at the tavern? You have to pay off his debts by chopping wood. Was he ripped off at the gambling house? You’re supposed to beat up the crook for him. And as a thank-you, you usually get nothing more than a damp handshake.
This kind of behavior doesn’t go over particularly well with the Crimson Desert community either. On Reddit, some playerswould even buy a DLCjust to give Yann a good thrashing:

The edited screenshot from the game depicts the fictional quest “Do Everyone a Favor.” Your task is to find the drunkard and punch him in the face. With nearly 3,700 upvotes, this desire for retribution seems to have struck a nerve with the community.
In the comments, everyone agrees that Yann is one of themost annoying video game characters ever:
- PS5OWESMEALIMONY: “The last time I was this annoyed by a character was with Ava from Borderlands 3—and that’s saying something.”
- ZarieRose:”I’d rather throw him off a cliff; at least then I’d never have to see his stupid face again.”
- BamaKJ: “Or how about a DLC that lets us banish Yann to the training arena so he can take the place of the training dummy?!”
Even outside of this thread, forums are full of posts about Yann that make clear the players’ disgust.
In aanother Reddit postthe user vents about exactly what bothers him about the character.
“He’s argumentative, does nothing to help us at the camp, whines and complains constantly, drinks nonstop, and complains even when he isn’t. Why the hell do we even keep him around? For entertainment? Out of pity?”
