A tiny little icon makes exploring this exceptional open world a whole lot easier.

We probably don’t need to tell you that Crimson Desert is pretty big. There’s already at least one player who’s beaten the open-world spectacle to platinum in a whopping 300 hours—so if you want to see everything, you should plan on spending some time.

With so much content, you naturally want to avoid retracing your steps. But with the abundance of caves and other locations, it’s not that easy to keep track of everything. Pearl Abyss has come up with a solution to make exploring new terrain easier.Unfortunately, though, you have to search quite a bit to find it.

A small icon in the Knowledge tab

Reddit user Genoscythe has now discovered this very feature and shared it directly in the Crimson Desert subreddit. It took him a mere 270 hours to discover the small icon that tells him where he’s already been.

If yougo to the “Knowledge” tabin the journal menu, you’ll find a list of discovered areas. If you then navigate to a specific cave, for example, you’ll see two dots on the right-hand side, one or both of which are white.

One dot means you know about the existence of this cave. Two dots mean you’ve been there before.

If this info is new to you, you’re in good company. Not even our tester Tillmann knew about this feature, and he’s spent around 150 hours grinding through Crimson Desert. How are you supposed to find all that when you can do this instead:

But the users in the Reddit thread are also absolutely delighted by this discovery.

  • Garm_Freki:”I can’t thank you enough”
  • dustrock:”This might be the best tip I’ve ever seen for this game.”
  • marlokow: “This isn’t an exaggeration—it’s actually damn useful! I’d been asking for mods that mark places you’ve already visited, haha.”

However, the feature hasn’t been without its critics. Not because it isn’t useful, but because it’s so hidden and probably also pretty unreliable.
