“You think we’re a clone? Thanks!” – Post-apocalyptic shooter copies The Last of Us and that’s completely intentional

Two indie developers are making their own version of The Last of Us 2: Factions.

The Last of Us series is best known as a story-driven single-player masterpiece, but the first installment also came with a popular multiplayer mode calledFactions. In fact, a multiplayer mode was also planned for part 2. However, The Last of Us Online was canceled in favor of the main gamein 2023.

Two indie devs and their studio Albartoss Interactive are now trying to fill the gap left by the missing Factions 2. Their game is calledTerminal War.

A Factions clone is exactly the target

In a TikTokAlbartoss Interactive founder Saba openly explains that their goal is to develop a clone of The Last of Us 2 – the multiplayer mode, of course.

For him, one thing is certain: if people call their small indie project with a small budget but a lot of heart a clone,then they’ve done a good job.

What kind of game is Terminal War?

It will be athird-person shooter set in an America torn apart by World War 3 in the 90s. Terminal War will have a total of three factions:

• The Federal Faction (F.MF.) – powerful, aggressive and united.
• The Free States Faction (L.S.U.C.) – an alliance of states fighting for their independence.
• The Rebellion Faction (The Banshees) – militias that emerge from local strongholds

According to the description, Terminal Waris played four against fourand ammunition is a very limited resource. Powerful melee attacks play a major role.

There is currently no release date. However, anEarly Access on Steamis planned, where there is already a store page. So you can add Terminal War to your wish list.

The short gameplay snippet on X has already collected over half a million views and 300 comments, and the TikTok boasts over 10,000 likes. So there is definitely interest in a multilayer shooter for The Last of Us. Factions. Whether Terminal War can inspire players in the same way remains to be seen.
