What is Dune: Part Three about?
But why do the first images for Dune 3 paint such a bleak future? After all, Paul Atreides defeated Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard) and Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken) in Part 2?
Well, from here on we’re entering light spoiler territory, you’ve been warned.
Dune: Part Three takes place after a time jump of around 12 years and is primarily based on the Messiah novel by Frank Herbert. Here, Paul does not turn out to be the savior of Arrakis or the universe that so many saw in him.
Instead, he rules with an iron fist and subjects the entire galaxy to his bloody reign, in which millions to billions lose their lives.
This might give you a rough idea of what to expect from Dune 3.
