Sony is scaling back PC ports of its single-player games. According to some sources, the first victim is likely to be the nearly completed version of the samurai hit Ghost of Yotei.

According to a well-known leaker, the already well-advanced PC version of Ghost of Yotei is ending up in the trash. According to industry insider and journalist Jason Schreier, this is part of a major strategy change by Sony. PC gamers will most likely have to prepare themselves for the fact that significantly fewer PlayStation games will find their way onto their platform in the future.

No PC version of Ghost of Yotei

According to leaker DetectiveSeeds, the PC port of the samurai adventure was already “very far along” in its development and was scheduled to be released for PC in 2026.

In a post on X, the leaker explains that he heard from four different people familiar with Sony’s business strategy that the project was being canceled. This also came as a surprise to the informants. Saros, the upcoming action-adventure game from Returnal creators Housemarque, is also no longer scheduled for release on PC.

Change of course at Sony

From a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier indicates that Sony is fundamentally taking a different direction with PC ports. Over the past six years, major PlayStation titles have also been released on other platforms, but this is set to continue only to a limited extent.

According to Schreier, online games such as the current Marathon or the upcoming fighting game Marvel Tokon will continue to be released for other platforms, but the big single-player blockbusters will not be coming in the future. Schreier suspects that one reason for Sony’s new direction is the rumor that the next Xbox will use Windows, bringing PC games directly to the console. Microsoft has been pursuing a multi-platform strategy for some time.

The journalist believes that Sony wants to prevent its own top games from appearing on its biggest competitor’s console if they continue to be released for the PC. In recent weeks, several industry insiders have reported on Sony’s change of heart. More on this below in the box!

Death Stranding 2, which is already scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, is still planned for PC release. The single-player action-adventure game Kena: Scars of Kosmora is also still listed on Steam. However, there has been no official statement from Sony yet, neither on the PC version of Ghost of Yotei nor on the change in strategy.
