The creators of Crimson Desert are obviously big fans of Indiana Jones! There’s no other explanation for this scene in the game.

At first glance, Crimson Desert doesn’t seem to have much in common with Indiana Jones. After all, the former is set in a medieval fantasy world full of magic, while the latter features a whip-wielding fanatic who chases after ancient treasures, fights Nazis, and ends up empty-handed.

However, the developers of the open-world role-playing game are apparently fans of Indy and know how to incorporate this into their game. Crimson Desert won’t be released until March 19, 2026, but some scenes are already circulating – including the following sequence:

We see a talented swordsman demonstrating his skills from a distance, skillfully wielding his blade. Instead of facing this fight, the protagonist simply throws a knife and wins the confrontation with a quick movement.

Indy fans will surely find all this familiar, after all, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom features almost exactly the same scene—only there it’s not a throwing knife, but a revolver. Here’s more a direct comparison of the scenes.

Trampy the cat jokingly writes in the comments: Did you know that this scene was changed because the development team had a stomach problem? It was planned to be an epic sword fight, but due to illness, it was replaced with this.

Of course, this wasn’t the case with Crimson Desert, but the user is alluding to the circumstances surrounding the original scene. A big fight was indeed planned, but it was replaced due to Harrison Ford’s stomach ache.

What do you think of such allusions – are they nothing more than a cheap copy or a welcome change? Feel free to write your thoughts in the comments!
