Leaks suggest that AMD’s upcoming Zen 6 processors will be available in seven core configurations. The release of CPUs with up to 24 cores is not expected before 2027.

AMD’s first Zen 5 processors have been on the market for a good year and a half now. In line with the product cycle, the rumor mill is already looking ahead: According to initial leaks, AMD is planning a total of seven different core configurations for the next CPU generation – let’s just call it “Ryzen 10000” for now.

The market launch of the CPUs developed under the code name “Olympic Ridge” based on the Zen 6 architecture is also said to be fixed: The first new AMD processors are not expected to hit the market before 2027.

“Olympic Ridge”: Seven core variants on one to two chiplets

The “9550pro” are to be divided into two groups. Single-CCD designs cover 6, 8, 10, and 12 cores, while dual-CCD configurations cover 16, 20, and 24 cores in the portfolio.

According to Videocardz 48 MB L3 cache. Dual CCD models would therefore have up to 96 MB L3 cache as a starting point.

CCD stands for “Core Complex Die” and, since 2019, has referred (in simplified terms) to the central component of AMD processors.
The CCD is essentially a standalone silicon chip that contains only the CPU cores and the shared L3 cache.
This principle allows AMD to easily implement processors with different core counts by combining one or two CCDs without having to develop completely new chip designs.

However, possible X3D variants are not to be found in the leaks – especially since AMD recently released the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, a new variant with 3D V-cache, which is likely to remain unrivalled for quite some time.

Continuing on the AM5 basis?

So if you’ve upgraded to Ryzen 7000 or 9000 in recent years, you won’t need to buy a new motherboard for the next generation – assuming the leak is accurate.

We won’t find out until next year at the earliest: According to the same Benchlife leak, “Olympic Ridge is not expected to be released before 2027.”
