Starting in April, you will be able to relax from monster slaying by going fishing. However, many players want to do more than just keep track of their biggest catches.
With Lord of Hatred, Diablo 4 is getting another class in addition to the Paladin, a new area, the return of the Horadric Cube, and lots more new content. This also includes a new fishing mini-game. Although this has been met with mixed feelings by the community, it could pave the way for a completely different feature.
Mixed opinions on fishing
A current Reddit thread is discussing the fishing feature. One player shows a picture from Diablo Immortal, because you’ve been able to happily catch fish in the mobile spin-off since 2023. All caught fish are listed in the game’s bestiary.
I hope they go all out for the fishing mini-game!

In general, reactions cover the entire spectrum. While users such as JohnnyNintendo writes: ”As someone who loves fishing in games, I’m very excited.” Are others, such as Palm-grindr12, less than enthusiastic: ”Why the hell are they adding fishing to Diablo? That’s the last thing I want to do when playing Diablo.“
Still others have no objection to the feature. Supreme_Salt_Lord just wants fishing to be 100 percent optional and for there to be no equipment that can’t be obtained anywhere else.
“I would really like a bestiary”
The compendium of caught fish reminds some players of another feature that Diablo 4 fans have been wanting for a long time: a bestiary with pictures and background information on all the monsters, demons, and other creatures you might encounter in Sanctuary.
“I would really like to have a bestiary. The world of Diablo is so big and diverse, and it would enhance the whole experience,” explains Thoodmen. This is confirmed by SheWhoHates and adds: ”They could update it with new stuff every season.”
Mielies296 believes, however: “Unfortunately, for most players who are eager for endgame content, these things and the backstory are at the bottom of their priority list.”
It is currently unknown how exactly fishing will work in Diablo 4. Blizzard has not yet commented on a bestiary.
In Diablo Immortal, players can catch fish of varying rarity levels and then exchange them for gold and equipment. There is even a chance to hook a loot chest. In fact, the mobile game even has a complete bestiary, which also features a progression system with additional character bonuses as rewards.
