Today, Thursday, brings you two free games in the Epic Games Store. The timing couldn’t be better, as the third installment of the series is already in the starting blocks.
It’s Thursday again. For PC gamers, that means one thing above all else: the Epic Games Store is putting together a new free package. Starting now, you can add two titles to your library permanently and for free.
This week, fans of sophisticated stealth action will get their money’s worth. Epic is giving away Styx: Master of Shadows and its sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness, the complete adventures of the cheeky goblin assassin to date.
What’s in the new free package
Styx: Master of Shadows
The first part, released in 2014, takes you as Styx, a two-century-old goblin, into the gigantic tower of Akenash. Your goal: the heart of the world tree and the mysterious resin that flows there.
The gameplay: This game is all about stealth. Styx is no match for most of his enemies in open combat. You’ll need to use shadows, analyze routes, and employ your magical abilities—such as invisibility or creating a clone to distract guards.
Who is it suitable for? For purists who love vertical level design and have no problem with the fact that a discovered goblin is quickly a dead goblin.
Styx: Shards of Darkness
The sequel, released in 2017, is a big step up technically thanks to Unreal Engine 4. The environments are more expansive, the kills more creative, and the humor even more biting.
In addition to its prettier visuals, Part 2 offers a co-op mode. So you can sneak through the dark elf city of Körangar together with a friend. The crafting and movement systems have also been significantly refined.
Why you should strike now
Epic Games’ gift is no coincidence: Styx: Blades of Greed, the third part of the saga, is set to be released on February 19, 2026, continuing the goblin’s story. So if you catch up on the previous games now “for free,” you’ll be up to date with the story just in time for the release.
By the way: If you don’t want to wait until February, you can already find a demo of Styx: Blades of Greed on Steam, where you can try out the new mechanics. How about you? Did you play the Styx series back then, or is this free offer the perfect opportunity to fill in the gaps in your knowledge before Part 3? Let us know in the comments!
