Pax Dei stumbled, not least because of its monetization via a subscription model, but a relaunch is expected to take place shortly.

In Pax Dei, players are largely responsible for shaping the game world. They construct all buildings themselves and create villages, towns, and castles. The entire economy is also in the hands of the community.

However, the plots of land are only available as part of a permanent subscription model. Among the only 56 percent positive SteamDB, Pax Dei has consistently had triple-digit player numbers since July.

A fresh start for Pax Dei

The 1.0 release is now set to fix this, and it is scheduled for October 16, 2025. To this end, the early access servers will be shut down on October 6 and all game progress will be deleted.

Those who purchased the Founder’s Edition will be able to start playing on October 14. Pax Dei was playable in Early Access via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and new to the 1.0 release is its inclusion in the PC Games Pass offering.

Players who actively use Microsoft’s subscription service will have access to the full version of Pax Dei.

What about the land plots?

Anyone who purchases the base game will receive a one-month premium membership. This includes two character slots, a plot token, and the XP boosts that come with premium status.

After the free month, the premium membership costs at least $3.99. If you want additional land tokens, you have to switch to a more expensive subscription. Players who have already purchased an early access version of Pax Dei will also receive the free premium month. Developer Mainframe Industries is planning to release update version 5 in 2025. This will introduce so-called feudal shrines, which are control points where clans can battle in PvP.

The developers also provide an outlook for 2026. Feudal alliances will be introduced with Version 6 at the beginning of the year. The update will allow clans to form alliances in times of war and peace.
