If you keep your eyes open, you can always find worthwhile bargains on Steam. For just a few more days, you can get Pathfinder: Kingmaker in the Enhanced Plus Edition
for $3. We’ll tell you why this could be worthwhile for you too.
What is Pathfinder: Kingmaker?
Pathfinder: Kingmaker is, in many ways, a classic role-playing game in which you guide a group of up to six heroes through a fantasy world from an isometric perspective, completing quests and fighting battles.
As in Baldur’s Gate 3, for example, the character systems are based on a complex pen-and-paper rule set. For us, Kingmaker was the true heir to Baldur’s Gate
at the time of testing.
The Steam Autumn Sale currently offers the Enhanced Edition of the game, including some additional content. This version includes numerous bug fixes and improvements, making the role-playing game even better. But what elements make Pathfinder so special? Read our summary to find out:
- Scope: According to How long to beat, but if you want to see everything, you’ll be busy for 200 hours.
- Story: You can expect an exciting story, difficult and sometimes momentous decisions, as well as lovable characters and well-written dialogues.
- World: You explore a large, detailed game world. This is not an open world, but rather several expansive areas between which you travel back and forth.
- Combat: You can either fight in pausable real time or switch to a turn-based system.
- Hero and group management: As is usual for the genre, you spend a lot of time choosing the right skills for your heroes so that your group works well together.
- Building a kingdom: In addition to classic role-playing activities, there is also a management part where you build and manage your own kingdom.
Who is this role-playing game suitable for? Pathfinder: Kingmaker is clearly not for everyone. You should enjoy challenging role-playing games and be prepared to engage with the complex ruleset attentively and patiently. Have you played Pathfinder: Kingmaker before? What do you think of the role-playing game, and would you recommend it to other players? Or has the title passed you by so far, and now that Baldur’s Gate 3 is out, you feel like giving it a try?
