At CoD Next, further information about the next installment in the series was announced. Except for one medium-sized stir, there has been a surprising silence.

A few years ago, the full reveal of a new Call of Duty, including a new Warzone map, was a huge spectacle that was hard to miss online. And CoD Next was, of course, another big event in September 2025 centered around Black Ops 7, with lots of fanfare, energy drink sponsors, and invited influencers. nbsp; You can watch the recording on YouTube.

A new trailer revealed the new Warzone map Haven’s Hollow (for Resurgence mode; Verdansk remains the main map):

But the most important thing, namely the reaction of the fans, is about as emotional as finding a $100 bundle in Warzone: Meh. No comparison to the past, where the attention was not always positive (to put it mildly). But at least there was heated discussion.

No wonder the developers say they are concerned about the community’s CoD fatigue.

What people are saying about the full reveal of the new CoD BO7

Overall, the response has been very muted. Only one killstreak has attracted a lot of annoyed comments: The Gravemaker is a new weapon that comes with a built-in wallhack. Here’s a gameplay clip from the event:

This has naturally led to surprise and ridicule. Comments such as “The developers really said screw it, everyone gets wall hacks” and “I’ll be in Battlefield 6” sum up the mood quite well.

Apart from that, most threads on Reddit, YouTube, and the like seem disinterested to frustrated. Of course, the CoD community has long been known for voicing negative opinions loudly. But a glance at what fans have to say under the stream for the event shows that there is a serious imbalance. Here is a selection, and almost all comments sound similar:

It’s just BO6 with boost packs, madness

This is going to be painful. We deserve better. Does Activision realize that it’s 2025 and the Xbox 360 era is long gone? This is underwhelming, to put it nicely.

What do the experts say?

Among pro players, the feedback has been somewhat more optimistic so far. For example, former CoD pro Methodz tweeted about the event: “Everyone should be very excited about this.” But even he noticed the generally gloomy mood in the community. His next tweet read: “Is everyone on this app in a bad mood?”

Even ModernWarzone also seemed to enjoy the reveal, praising the feel of the multiplayer in particular. But even he writes that he understands why many people are not enjoying the game. It’s a new skin thrown over Black Ops 6 that improves the gameplay somewhat. He understands the CoD fatigue.

Soon you’ll be able to form your own opinion of the multiplayer mode in Call of Duty. The Black Ops 7 beta starts on October 2 for those who have received early access. From October 5, it will be open to everyone, and you can play until October 8. The release is then scheduled for November 17.
