The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is set to shake up the handheld market and offer the best display yet.

2025 is already shaping up to be an excellent year for handheld fans. The Nintendo Switch 2 is breaking records at launch and the ROG Xbox Ally is already in the starting blocks. But with the Lenovo Legion Go 2, another extremely promising handheld is set to be released this year.

New leaks about the Lenovo Legion Go 2

Our handheld expert Linh already chose the Lenovo Legion Go 2 in July as the handheld he is most looking forward to this year. At the time, his opinion was based on a series of leaks about the device. Now, more precise information has emerged.

Many rumors suggest that Lenovo will unveil the Legion Go 2 at IFA 2025, which will take place in Berlin from September 5 to 9. A release could then be expected in the following two months. Leaker Evan Blass has now published a series of marketing images that are said to show the new handheld:

The images confirm much of what had already been leaked through prototypes or other sources. According to these, the handheld’s specifications would be as follows:

  • APU: AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme or AMD Ryzen Z2
  • RAM: up to 32 GB LPDDR5X @ 8,000 MT/s
  • Display: 8.8 inches, OLED, 1920 x 1200, 500 nits, 144 Hz, VRR, 97 percent DCI-P3
  • SSD: 2 TB
  • OS: Windows 11

The images show both the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme and the “normal” Ryzen Z2. This, along with the phrase “up to 32 GB RAM,” is a clear indication that Lenovo is planning to release at least one slightly less powerful and more affordable device in addition to the top-of-the-line model.

The best screen: The Steam Deck OLED also has a (slightly smaller) OLED display and HDR, but it “only” offers 90 Hz and no VRR. The Asus ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, offers 120 Hz and VRR, but has an IPS panel.

The combination of an OLED panel and VRR would make the Legion Go 2 a unicorn in the handheld market. Add to that a high peak brightness and the hope for nothing less than the best handheld display currently available.

What do you think of the rumors? Do you think the market needs another handheld? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
