The mother of all cozy games is getting new content. When? Developer Eric Barone won’t reveal that until everything is ready.
Over the weekend, Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, gave fans of Stardew Valley something to get excited about. There will be an update 1.7 with new content. He hasn’t given a release date and, for good reason, has no plans to do so.
Erst wenn alles fertig ist
In einem post on X, Barone shared the good news that some fans had already heard at a concert. There will be a new update for Farming Simulation. He writes:
Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening pic.twitter.com/RnNgc3ERER

Okay, I announced this at a concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag, so I’ll confirm it for everyone: Update 1.7 for Stardew Valley is coming. No release date, no estimate. But it’s coming.
The reason he doesn’t want to give any release dates is because of the bad experiences he had with Update 1.6. Mobile and console players had to wait significantly longer than PC players, which led to a lot of criticism from the community. That’s why this time, everyone has to wait until everything is really ready.
Community has wishes for Update 1.7
In a Reddit post, fans are already collecting the many big and small wishes they have for the update. We’ll summarize it all for you:
- A fish encyclopedia with all the locations, seasons, and times when the fish were caught.
- The ability to marry more NPCs. (Almost every name is mentioned, but Robin is way out in front.)
- New NPCs
- Children should be able to help out on the farm.
- The children should grow up.
- Move with the family to the beach house and back again.
- Holidays for birthdays, anniversaries, and more.
- New fruit trees
- And much more…
But what players want most is for Eric Barone to take the time he needs to develop great new content, but also not to overwork himself in the process. He is currently working on his next big game, called Haunted Chocolatier. Not much is known about the new project yet, but unlike Stardew Valley, combat is expected to play a bigger role.
