Asterfel is based on the role-playing games of the 2000s and transports you to a medieval dark fantasy world.
A new action role-playing game called Asterfel is coming soon from Germany-based studio Mysteria. According to the Steam page, Gothic and The Witcher are the main sources of inspiration. Fittingly, the international team also includes former developers from Piranha Bytes and CD Projekt Red.
What is Asterfel?
In this role-playing game with a third-person perspective, you land on the island of Asterfel as a shipwreck survivor. The greedy king of the island has forced his workers to dig too deep in the magical mines and awakened a sleeping god.
His magic is now spreading across the island, making nature unpredictable. In addition, the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the people.
In the game, you can take on missions from three different factions, choose a side, or do business with all of them while investigating their motives.
- Crown Warden: Loyal servants of the king
- Kindred: Rebel group that frees captured workers from the mines
- Scholars: A group of magicians who explore the land

For combat, you can choose between swords, bows and arrows, and magical runes that allow you to cast spells. However, you can also create your own play style from all the available options.
In the open world, you’ll find castles, villages, dense jungles, and ancient ruins, which you can explore to your heart’s content, limited only by how well you can handle the increasingly powerful enemies. The game aims to create an atmosphere inspired primarily by Gothic. There are currently no concrete release plans for Asterfel. However, you can already add the game to your wish list via the Steam page. The remake of Gothic will not be released until 2026, so perhaps Mysteria Studios can fill the void in the hearts of fans.
