A new mod in Cyberpunk 2077 lets the main character V react to more events happening in Night City. This often involves giving the middle finger.
It’s finally clear why the main character in Cyberpunk 2077 is simply called V: the V apparently stands for vulgar – at least if you look at the new mod for the open-world game. With the fan extension Responsive V, the character swears and insults any Night City resident who literally steps on his or her toes.
What exactly is in the mod?
V reacts to various actions that happen in the open world. More specifically, when:
- … NPCs bump into V
- … V is hit by a car
- … MaxTac shows up and Netwatch hacks V’s car
- … V steals a car
- … your own car is about to explode
- … your own car explodes
- … Johnny Silverhand criticizes V’s driving style
How exactly V reacts varies greatly. Sometimes he just curses quietly to himself, other times he grumbles fervently back. The only wordless reaction in the mod is the middle finger to express V’s displeasure. In the YouTube video, you can see exactly how this affects the immersion:
No AI voices
Since the voice lines were already included in the game and are only being used in new places by the mod, no lifeless voices are necessary here. This also means that the mod is available in all languages supported by the vanilla game! So V can also grumble with relish in German.
The mod will also have no effect on gameplay, as these interactions are disabled during quests, fights, and so on. However, you can also decide for yourself which reactions from V should occur occasionally and which you want to disable completely.
You can download the free fan extension at NexusMods .
However, this would have already defined V’s character to a certain extent: a gangster who doesn’t take any nonsense and doesn’t mince his words. The role-playing aspect of Cyberpunk 2077 would thus have been a little less prominent. What do you think? Feel free to write your thoughts in the comments!
