Amazon has surprisingly postponed the release of New World by one month. We classify the reasons.

The beta of New World has been over since 03 August 2021 and the anticipation for the release was high among many players. Amazon Games, the developers behind the MMO, surprisingly postponed the release by one month shortly after the beta ended.

New World will be released one month later than planned
A statement was posted on the official German Twitter account of New World explaining the reasons for the postponement of Amazon’s MMO: In order for the launch to go smoothly, some improvements will be made, bugs will be fixed and stability will be increased.

At the same time, the game is to be “polished”. Following feedback from the beta, the release has been postponed to 28 September 2021. The additional time is intended to help ensure that the launch is “enjoyable for everyone”. Besides missing translations in the German version, there were more serious problems that even destroyed graphics cards.

In the tweet, the developers mention that the decision was not an easy one and they are aware that it was not the first postponement. Originally, New World was supposed to be released in spring 2020. Later the release was postponed to August 2020 and then to spring 2021.

Were specific reasons given for the postponement?

The statement on Twitter does not give specific reasons. It says that “improvements will be made based on what you experienced in the beta”. We embed the relevant Twitter post for you below:

There were numerous reports of exploits and glitches circulating on Reddit and other social media during the beta. There were said to be two trading dupe exploits, one of which generated separate item IDs. There were also rollback exploits to duplicate items and a potionspamming exploit in PvP. Numerous errors were posted in the New World Beta Forum, which is currently no longer accessible.

It is not known whether new features will find their way into the game before the release in September. However, it can be assumed that no new content will follow, but that the team will focus entirely on fixing bugs and performance problems.

Over one million players: According to Amazon Games, over one million players took part in the beta. This made it one of the most watched games on Twitch, as well as one of the most played on Steam, according to the company. If 10 percent of players – which is an optimistic estimate – reported feedback or bugs, that alone would have resulted in 100,000 reports.

We’ll keep you updated and expand the news as soon as new information on the postponement becomes available.
